Why Keep Botanic Gardens View

Botanic Gardens View is a unique parcel of land. This is often said, but in our case it's a reality.

There is literally nowhere else in Singapore (well, except our sister condo Botanic Gardens Mansion across the road, but the two used to be one, before Taman Serasi was a through road, so it doesn't really count for this purpose) that has our advantages: we are in District 10, across the road from the Botanic Gardens, five minutes from Orchard Road, next to a major hospital and within easy reach of public transport and shopping centres. As long as Singapore remains Singapore, this plot of land will never lose its value.

The development itself is solid, freehold and has very large apartments by modern standards. Given its age, it also has a certain claim to be a representative historic estate in the Singapore context.

Thanks to responsible management over the last decade, it has been properly maintained and kept up (and we intend to see that this continues). No realistic price offered to us will take account of these externalities.

Why should we practically give away somewhere that is both as nice to live as this and a superb long-term investment? If it is taken from us, the price will never make up for the loss of this location and it will certainly never allow us to buy anything that equals what we have now.

This is the last affordable development of this quality in the Orchard Road/District 10 area and we must not lose it.
